Mathew Williams is Chair of Global Change Ecology and Head of the Global Change Research Institute at the School of GeoSciences, University of Edinburgh. His research focuses on primary production and carbon cycling in terrestrial ecosystems, and how these respond to changing climate and disturbance. To tackle these challenges he links process modelling with earth observation and field experiments to diagnose ecosystem dynamics.
